In COVID times - know how the world's leading Clinical Trials Management Software company designed a common testing framework to transform their testing organization from a manual testing dominant force to value based Automation Engineers. We are a Zero to Hero story of the pandemic.
Medidata Solutions is a SAAS company that creates the world's leading Clinical Trials Management Software. Allen and I work on the Platform Services team that is the heart of Medidata's software. The last 2 years have been the most challenging and inspiring years for us, as we had numerous COVID-19 vaccine trials running on our platform and our average traffic grew 20-30 times.
In order to cope up with the higher workload and increased number of releases in the year to support our customers, it was evident that we had to automate our most repetitive and time consuming tasks. Considering that a majority of our Testers were manual Testers, we moved to Robot Framework due to its ease of use for someone with minimal to no programming skills to embark on their automation journey. From an initial POC that involved 2 teams - in approximately 2 years, we have grown to more than 15 teams in the organization that use a common testing framework built using Robot Framework.
In this talk, we would like to talk about our journey and our experiences so far.
I am a Full Stack tester. My professional journey began with testing Mainframe Applications, Data Warehousing & ETL processes, Business Intelligence reports and now API & UI Applications in Microservices architectures.
Test Automation to me is an extension of my Manual Testing exploits. It helps improve my efficiency and makes time for exploratory testing. I am a big fan of the Context Driven school of Testing and use that mindset at work (and in life).
When I am not working, I am doing or thinking about something adventurous.
