Accessability checking with Browser Extensions
2022-05-19 , Main Hall

Does your webpage require to be compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines? Then this short talk is just for you! You will be shown how to incorporate WCAG checks into your existing Web tests, using Deque®'s Axe-Core technology and Robot Framework Browser Library.

Following the WCAG guidelines will make content more accessible to a wider range of people with disabilities, including accommodations for blindness and low vision, deafness and hearing loss, limited movement, speech disabilities, photosensitivity, and combinations of these. This is why many governmental agencies require WCAG 2.1 to be implemented.

Manually testing for WCAG issues requires a lot of time. What if you would be able to find on average 57% of WCAG issues automatically? That is exactly what Deque's Axe-core tooling is meant for. The open source Axe rules library is now available as an extension on the popular Browser Library.
